The objective of this course is to provide with the basic skills and concepts in the field of ECG or EKG. The intent of the program is to capacitate individuals to work with patients undergoing ECG tests and be able to understand the anatomy of the heart, heart rhythms, causes for and treatments of different rhythms, and patient signs and symptoms associated with these rhythms. Students will be able to perform ECG and other cardiovascular tests as well as pulmonary tests. This program is designed to train students to perform the duties and functions of an Electrocardiograph Aide. Students will learn the cardiovascular system and its functions and pathology and diseases, law and ethics, and, duty function in the medical chain of command. Students will demonstrate knowledge and apply skills in using medical instrumentation modalities relevant to the function of an electrocardiograph aide. Upon completion of this program, graduates will possess the skills and knowledge to become employed as entry-level Electrocardiograph Aides, in hospitals, and outpatient centers.
