The Dialysis Technician course prepares students to become qualified dialysis technicians, able to handle hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis with Fresenius and B Braun dialysis machines. The course also includes training in the preparation of dialysis fluids as well as washing and storing the dialyzer for reuse. Holders of a diploma or certificate can install and operate a dialysis machine, mix the dialysate according to the formula, and prime the dialyzer with saline or heparinized solution to prepare the device.

Hemodialysis is the most common type of dialysis. This process uses an artificial kidney (hemodialyzer) to remove waste and extra fluid from the blood. The blood is removed from the body and filtered through the artificial kidney. The filtered blood is then returned to the body with the help of a dialysis machine. Dialysis is a medical procedure that removes excess water, solutes, and toxins from the blood in persons whose kidneys are unable to do so naturally. Renal replacement treatment is the term for this. In 1943, the first successful dialysis procedure was conducted.
